Suelyn Shay is the protagonist of Spira Caelix. A peppy, cheerful, and idealistic young woman, she was orphaned at a young age and raised in a Spirian abbey. Recently ordained as a priestess, or perhaps better translated as a shaman, she now travels the world in an effort to reinvigorate the active practice of spirit worship.

Her journey entangles her with the fate of one Finnen Medes, and together they discover a complex political plot centuries in the making that threatens the lives of all across Caelix. Suelyn then decides to take it upon herself to lead the charge against those who scheme to harm others, and in so doing begins to question everything she was raised to believe.


As a Spirian shaman, Suelyn is edified in the art of spirit dancing, a ritual form of worship in which the dancer twirls with a wand decorated with long, streaming silk ribbons to soothe and entertain the spirits. Her garb reflects her occupation, and if she spins, the trailing fabric on her outfit creates a mesmerizing spiral.

As far as combat capabilities, Suelyn was also formally trained in the use of quarterstaffs and polearms, and her personal preference is for the spear. A talented user of light magic, she is capable of feats such as emanating searing rays or even projecting holograms.

Recently, she's discovered that she seems to have the ability to affect plant life, perhaps even directly manipulate it... but this would violate a very basic law of magic on Caelix, so surely she must be mistaken.
