Alistair Lamorryn is a supporting character from
Auster. A rather airheaded shifter, they spent most of their life in isolation from others and as a result do not understand social conventions well, which frequently gets them into trouble. A dedicated pacifist, they try their best not to indulge in their kind's natural diet as they sincerely admire and respect humankind. It is for this reason that they decide to ally with Ríast and help overthrow their fellow shifters.
Despite their innocent act, Alistair was actually once one of the most powerful shifters, if not the most powerful if it were a contest of brute strength alone. Years of starvation, however, has rendered them rather weak, and at this point even shifting is often too exhausting for them.
As a shifter, their true form is essentially a mass of black sludge, eyes, tentacles, and sharp teeth. Its shape vaguely resembles that of a dragon's, but it is ultimately rather fluid and dynamic in nature. While they are in their human form, hints of their true form show through their shadow; they can manifest it as black tendrils that grow visibly inky and slimy the more their grip over their human form slips. Nestled deep within their true form is their core, a spherical citrine gemstone carved with hundreds of facets.
In Part 1, Alistair initially fears
Enoch, as they mistakenly believe he still bears a grudge for the scar they left on his face. Enoch does despise Alistair, but not for that reason; in fact, though he likes to pretend otherwise, his hatred is fueled by much pettier emotions, as he envies what he perceives as Alistair's carefree existence and cannot understand why his fellow kinsman would willingly choose to fraternize with humans.
In Part 3, they somehow become "friends" cohabitating under Alistair's own behest. As the only remaining survivors of what occurred two hundred years ago, they have much reason to stay together. Alistair clings to Enoch out of a deep-seated fear of loneliness, while Enoch tolerates Alistair out of what is, at first, a sense of obligation. As they spend more time together, however, they come to realize that they aren't so bad a match after all.
Lysandre and Alistair are begrudging allies. Lysandre views Alistair as a coward who ran away from their responsibilites and is offended at the very idea of someone so powerful yet so reluctant of fighting, even if it is to supposedly protect the weak. Alistair, meanwhile, is fully cognizant of the fact that Lysandre cannot stand them, and avoids him as a result almost fearfully: a fact which only riles Lysandre further.
